We stayed here in August as a last minute mini vacation from house projects! The owners were super nice, the campground was not full with weekend visitors yet so we were able to have some wonderful conversations with them. The campsite was excellent, I don't think there's a *bad one in the place.
Our teenagers were very content to stay in our site with cable & internet while we walked the trails and grounds of the Woodlawn Museum. (accessible from the campground no less!). For being so close to town, you would not know it... it was quiet and peaceful. Everything was well maintained, the only glitch was when the internet went out on our last night.
It's a nice little drive to Bar Harbor, Acadia Nat. Park, or go around through Somesville and enjoy the Bass Harbor light house and more of the coast!
If you want a place with all sorts of bells and whistles to entertain your children, this is not it. If you want a place where you can talk and enjoy the company of your kids, as well as very sociable, nice *neighbors* this is definitely the place to go.
We are looking forward to going back again next summer, and so are our teenagers! The hardest thing we have to do is decide whether to tell our friends because they would also enjoy it, or to keep it as our own oasis from the madness!! Cassie D, Maine
