There are MANY things to see and do in the Acadia National Park area. Here are a few things we, at Forest Ridge recommend.
Many campers take day trips and return to Forest Ridge for the convenient location and friendly atmosphere.
Penobscot Narrows and Bridge Observatory: The new Penobscot Narrows Bridge opened in October 2006. Besides being an impressive bridge, the bridge also features an observation platform on the top of one of the pylons from which visitors will see downtown Bucksport, Verona Island, the Penobscot River and Fort Knox State Park. The bridge is only 20 miles from Forest Ridge Campground.
Acadia National Park: 27 Mile Park Loop Road, Seir de Mont Springs, Abbe Museum, Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, Otter Point, Jordan Pond Nature Trail, Jordan Pond, Bubble Rock, Cadillac Mountain, Canoe and Bicycle Rentals, Horseback Carriage Rides, Museums, Sightseeing & Fishing Cruises, Whale Watching Trips and Schoodic Peninsula.
